| Personal Statement |
| I not only use this training as an artist in the
professional world of T.V.,Film,Theatre, and Voice-Over, I
also use it in my daily life to maintain a healthy voice and
body. Upon certification in l990 from Arthur Lessac, I began
my ever-evolving journey as teacher of voice, speech,
movement, dialects and acting. Through this training
process, I have witnessed great emotional maturity and
growth in artists coming into communion with themselves and
with the text of the playwright. My job as a teacher is to
provide them with a journey, a process, and an atmosphere
where they grow into their voice and body potential and find
healthier choices in expressing themselves. My goal is to
help them to become self-sufficient in physically and
vocally expressing the story and who they uniquely are as
healthy expressive human beings. I find when the students
come into communion with their own unique healthy voice and
body, they like the feel of themselves in their
self-expression and, and to quote Ralph Waldo Emerson:
"Self-reliance in the greatest gift to give oneself." |

| Personal Philosophy:
|
| I work with the whole body in finding good,
focused tone, in discovering the musicality inherent in
language and character and in correcting the misuse of the
voice through years of neglect. My teaching is that of an
encourager, in supporting the artist/student's goals and
giving them the opportunity to discover the many choices at
their disposal. I have found that teaching is one of the
most creative jobs out there and I invest my teaching with
the style and energy of an artist myself. Each student asks
for different ways of communicating material, to suit their
backgrounds, philosophies and previous training and I adapt
and challenge myself to provide such tailored responses to
the individual. My extensive background as a professional
performer provides the forum for me to relate the value of
good vocal health coupled with the experience of a performer
who has "been there, done that". Those who do, MUST TEACH.
It is the only way to pass down the material in its most
distilled efficient method. What we teach WORKS, because
I've personally experienced it. I've seen it change the
body, voice and the spirit. My experience as a voice
teacher/coach has enriched my life and has changed my
person. |
