Hardie is trained in theatre voice, body/voice integration,
acting, directing, writing and workshopping for the stage.
She has trained extensively with Arthur Lessac, and is a
Certified Lessac Teacher, but has also taken workshops with:
Barry Kur, Lynn Darnley, Liz Mills, Robert Sataloff, Bonnie
Raphael, Lucille Rubin, Janet Feindel, Cicely Berry and
Patsy Rodenburg. |

| Work Experience: She
was Head of the Drama Department of the National School of
the Arts, where she taught between 1991 and 2004. She has
served as a Board member of the Actors Centre, where she
teaches voice, and has voice coached their many productions.
Other teaching experience includes (AFDA) the South African
School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance, the
Market Theatre Laboratory, the Intimate Theatre, Sibikwa
Community Theatre and Vocal Impact. She is currently the
South African producer of the Colonnades Theatre Lab’s
international theatre piece, ‘Truth in Translation’, which
tells the story of the interpreters at the Truth and
Reconciliation Commission. With music by Hugh Masekela, and
direction by Michael Lessac, the production travels the
world in order to serve as a catalyst for dialogue and
change. She has toured with the piece to Rwanda, the
Edinburgh festival, the USA, Sweden, Belfast and within
South Africa itself. |

PhD, Certified Lessac Voice and Movement teacher, CMA –
Certified Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst) lectures at the
Drama and Vocal Art Departments of the Pretoria Technikon in
South Africa. Undergraduate courses that she is responsible
for include Body integration; Optimal body/voice
integration; Voice building, Theatre voice, and movement and
acting for opera singers. On graduate level she acts as
advisor for performance voice and movement studies. She runs
a private studio focusing on body integration for musicians
and body/voice integration for singers/actors. As such Marth
Munro uses the Lessac Approach on a daily base, often in
combination with other organic movement principles like
those found in the Laban/Bartenieff Movement studies. She
gives workshops for singers and actors throughout South
Africa and abroad. Marth Munro is the Associate Editor for
the Voice and Speech Review, responsible for voice
production and movement related voice matters. The Voice and
Speech Review is the official Journal of VASTA (Voice and
Speech Trainers Association). She is president of SAPVAME
(South African Performer’s Voice and Movement Educators) and
a member of the LIMS International Advisory Board. Marth
Munro has published in accredited and popular Journals and
presented numerous papers both in South Africa and
internationally. Most of her publications deal with the
Lessac Approach, and her PhD, specifically investigated the
acoustic profile enhancement of female voices due to the
Tonal NRG training. Marth Munro believes in a holistic
approach towards stimulating and enhancing performance
capabilities within the performer and as such she focuses on
finding the organic pathways towards the optimal/most
efficient balance between function and expression.
